Meet Grace
Grace trained with ProDoula and DONA International has been providing professional birth and postpartum doula support in Iowa since 2016. Grace is Red Cross First Aid & CPR Certified and has additional birth work trainings from Spinning Babies, Stillbirthday & Postpartum Support International, among others.
Grace has professional experience supporting TOLAC/VBAC, Anxiety, High Risk Birth, Unmedicated Birth, Epidurals, LGBTQ+, Cesarean, Postpartum Depression & Anxiety, Vaginal Birth, Multiples, Inductions, Virtual Birth Support, Plus Size Birth, Home Birth, Breastfeeding, Pumping, Formula Feeding, Postpartum Depression, Care of Multiples, Miscarriage/Loss, Pregnancy After Loss, Hospital Anxiety, Circumcision Care, Intact Care, Cloth Diapering, Baby Wearing and more.
In addition to her work as a full spectrum doula, Grace advocates for birthing people across the state as a representative and advocate for the Iowa Maternal Quality Care Collaborative through the Iowa Department of Public Health. Additionally, Grace helps to facilitate Pregnant & Postpartum in the Corridor, a online and in-person support group and resource for local parents. Grace is also a founding member of Doulas of Iowa City, a local professional networking and continuing education organization for doulas.
Grace is married to her college sweetheart and also a parent to two rambunctious young children. She cares deeply about perinatal mental health and reproductive justice. Grace's academic background is in social work and theater, with many years of experience in the non profit world. It was her first birth experience in 2015 that inspired her to become a doula. Grace is active in her church and local neighborhood community group, where she serves in several volunteer leadership roles. In her free time she enjoys cooking, gardening, traveling and also good old-fashioned Netflix binge.
